PT. Industri Jamu Dan Farmasi Sido Muncul, Tbk provided financial assistance to Indonesian women badminton legend Verawaty Fajrin. The 1980 women’s singles badminton world champion is currently battling lung cancer at the Dharmais Cancer Hospital, Jakarta. Through Fidyan Dini, Sido Muncul handed over assistance of Rp100 million at the Dharmais Cancer Hospital Jakarta on Friday, 24 September 2021.
Director of Sido Muncul Irwan Hidayat also wished Verawaty Fajrin a speedy recovery so that she can join her family.
“I am sorry for the illness that Verawaty Fajrin is facing. Thus, we from Sido Muncul took part in helping Vera. Maybe Pak Jokowi and the Government have covered her treatments. However, her daily expenses and other costs are quite large, too. We hope that the donation from Sido Muncul can help cover these needs. I could not meet her in person due to the current conditions, but I pray that Vera recovers and returns to her family soon,” said Irwan Hidayat.
Verawaty Wiharjo is an Indonesian badminton athlete who has won various tournaments in the 1980s in the women’s singles, women’s doubles, and mixed doubles categories.
Verawaty also carried the 2018 Asian Games torch and handed it over to Indonesian President Joko Widodo at the Merdeka Palace, Jakarta on 17 August 2018.
